Department of Psychiatry
The Department of Psychiatry of the University of Pittsburgh and its affiliate hospital, the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic (WPIC) of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), has more than 220 primary faculty members trained in a wide range of disciplines that encompass clinical expertise across brain and behavioral disorders and the lifespan and a number of basic science domains. Priorities for the Department include first and foremost, to provide the highest quality care for the individuals who seek clinical services and their families; second, to promote the career development of faculty, trainees, and staff to further advance the level of expertise in all areas; and third, to pursue the discovery and dissemination of new scientific knowledge in order to develop personalized and preventative treatments for mental illness and addictive disorders.

The Brain Institute's mission is to unlock the mysteries of normal and abnormal brain function and then translate discoveries into new approaches for overcoming brain disorders. The formula is simple: Basic science research enables discoveries that lead to treatments and cures. The Brain Institute provides a unifying structure and collaborative framework for the many diverse research units that make up the neuroscience community at Pitt.

Brain and Behavior Research Foundation
The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation is committed to alleviating the suffering caused by mental illness by raising funds from donor contributions to award grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research. It was previously known as the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD).
Schizophrenia Research Forum (SRF)
The mission of the Schizophrenia Research Forum (SRF) is to help in the search for causes, treatments, and understanding of the devastating disease of schizophrenia. Our goal is to foster collaboration among researchers by providing an international online forum where ideas, research news, and data can be presented and discussed. The website is free of charge to users, independent of industry sponsorship, and open to the public.
